The Moqui Motor Madness car show was named using a voting contest, Escalante High School students have a Moqui mascot and a great variety of classic, antique, hot rod and cruiser cars in their town. In 2016, the first show launched with the collaboration of the Escalante & Boulder Chamber of Commerce, Garfield County Office of Tourism, and Ruris ‘small towns-big impacts’; making sure that this long awaited event would be a spectacular one!
2018
Did you see this show?! Definitely the most diverse one yet, the entries were fantastic and so are the auto owners.
The Grand Prize drawings went to Stewart I. and Sherri W. who happily carried home a chainsaw and a combo rifle. Prize drawings are given out every 15 min at this show thanks to the great sponsors who donate prizes and the proceeds from the previous year. Between the unique vendors you can shop from and the drawings it sure makes for a fun day in beautiful Escalante.
2019
This year hosted cars, trucks, motorcycles, a custom mini-boat and a rear-engine dragster! The word has spread around the state and this is the show to be at in Southern Utah!
The raffle prizes were the best yet: a Camp Chef smoker was won by Blaine P. and Krystal G. won the combo rifle. What’s really fun is that the announcer gives out smaller prizes every 15 minutes during the whole show- it’s so fun to enter and know that your money goes right towards the local volunteer first responders.
The locals are forming a car club and are gearing up to add their expertise to the show, this means new entries in 2020, bigger raffle prizes, and a great pre-show activity on Friday night. Mark your calendar for August 1, 2020 and come see us!
I hope to continue participating, as in past years.
Please do! All you have to do is show up to register just prior to the show, between 8-9am.
